Lots of people love to recount stories of their youth. They look back with fondness at all the fun they had 'back in the day'. Why should that all be in the past? As we progress through the years different activities and interests may bring us pleasure, but surely having fun is still just as important as it ever was.

The day of my first senior social group meeting had arrived. I sat nervously waiting for the arrival of potential members. Would anyone come along? If so, who would they be? What would they be expecting from me? I was not exactly sure of the way forward, but I did know that having fun was the key to its success. This may not have been the social group that everyone had envisaged, but over the coming months and years, the friendships formed, adventures experienced, and laughter shared was more than I could ever have hoped for. "Trust me it'll be fun," I said. Luckily, they all did...

The Author

Jan Howley was born in Liverpool in 1960. At thirty-one years of age, she moved to the midlands for work, and settled in Nuneaton. Being away from her family was often difficult for her and she experienced many lonely periods in her life. Consequently, Jan is now passionate in her quest to tackle the problem of loneliness, particularly amongst the older generation.

With this aim in mind, she formed a senior social group, which gave her the inspiration, and material for this story, which is the first book that she has written.
